What Does EMFACE Actually Do And Does It Work

Stacey Gaff | Founder & Esthetician

Stacey’s approach to skincare has been shaped by 25 years of practice, international influences and a belief that exceptional treatments should feel deeply personal.

After studying business at Simon Fraser University and completing her esthetics training at Blanche Macdonald, Stacey began working in Whistler in 2003. Over the next 15 years, she built a loyal clientele and exchanged techniques with therapists from around the world, including during a year working in Australia. These experiences shaped the intuitive, hands-on treatments she is known for today.

Her time at the Four Seasons sparked a love of luxury, while her heart remained in the warmth and connection of a small, local studio. Bringing those qualities together became the foundation of her two businesses, Lake Life Day Spa and Whistler Day Spa.

Stacey holds certifications in manual lymphatic drainage and intraoral buccal massage through Pro Aesthetics Academy, and microneedling through the Canadian Board of Aesthetic Medicine. She continues her advanced education with Biologique Recherche and iS Clinical.

Often described by clients as having “magical hands,” Stacey understands that a memorable treatment lives in the details: the rhythm of the massage, the thoughtful finishing touch and the feeling that someone is entirely focused on you. That philosophy guides both her treatments and the team she has built at Lake Life.

A facial lift without needles or surgery sounds appealing. But before investing in EMFACE, you probably want to know: Will I actually see a difference?

It’s a reasonable question. For the right candidate, EMFACE can improve facial muscle tone and skin firmness, creating a subtly lifted look that still looks like you.

What’s Actually Causing Your Face to Age?

Wrinkles are only part of the picture. Some of the changes you see start below the surface:

  • Collagen and elastin decline, leaving skin less firm and springy.
  • Facial muscle support changes with age.
  • Fat pads lose fullness or shift position.
  • Bone and other supporting tissues change over time.

EMFACE works on two parts of this process: your facial muscles and your skin.

How does EMFACE work

EMFACE combines two technologies in one treatment:

  • HIFES muscle stimulation creates powerful, repeated contractions to strengthen selected facial muscles and improve lift and support.
  • Radiofrequency delivers controlled heat to stimulate collagen and elastin remodelling for firmer, smoother-looking skin.

Depending on the applicators used, treatment can address the forehead and brows, cheeks, eye area, and the area under the chin to improve jawline definition.

Is EMFACE the same as face yoga

No. Face yoga uses movements you make yourself. EMFACE uses HIFES technology to create supramaximal contractions. Simply put, these are contractions you cannot achieve on your own.

This allows EMFACE to train selected facial muscles while the radiofrequency works on your skin during the same appointment.

What results does the research show

BTL, the manufacturer of EMFACE, reports these average results from its clinical research:

  • 37% reduction in wrinkles.
  • 30% increase in facial muscle tone.
  • 23% lifting effect.

These are reported study averages, not a guarantee of your result. Your facial anatomy, skin quality and degree of laxity all make a difference.

Why do the results look natural

EMFACE works with your existing muscles and skin. As muscle tone and skin firmness improve, you may notice more defined contours, a subtle lift through the cheeks or brows, and softer lines.

The improvements develop gradually. It does not add volume like filler or create the change you would expect from a surgical facelift.

How many treatments will I need

At Lake Life, we start with four treatments, spaced one week apart. We assess your results three months after your final session, giving the improvements time to develop.

Some people benefit from additional sessions or maintenance treatments. We plan these around your results and goals. Consistent skincare and daily sunscreen remain part of looking after your skin.

Does EMFACE replace Botox or filler

For people who prefer to avoid injections, EMFACE can be an excellent option for improving facial support and skin firmness. It works differently from Botox and filler, so the right choice depends on what you want to address.

Can you still have Botox? Yes. Botox can soften lines caused by selected muscle activity, including the “11” frown lines between your eyebrows. EMFACE does not relax those frown muscles, so the treatments can complement one another when appropriate. Filler has a different role again: adding volume where it is needed.

What about TMJ and jaw tension

EMFACE also has a dedicated TMJ applicator for jaw-muscle treatment. This is a separate use from facial lifting. We’ll explore jaw tension, TMJ symptoms and this applicator in an upcoming post.

So does EMFACE work

Yes, it can make a visible difference for the right candidate. It is worth considering if you want a non-invasive treatment, prefer gradual changes and want to improve both muscle tone and skin quality.

At Lake Life Day Spa in Salmon Arm, we start with a consultation to understand your concerns, explain realistic results and build a plan around your priorities, time and budget.
